Joseph Smith Jr. was recently named one of the 100 greatest Americans for the upcoming program on the discovery channel. We believe he was the first prophet of the modern era and since this December marks his 200th "birthday," a movie is being made about his life, work and murder. In case you've been wondering (and a few of you have asked), that's why I'm growing a beard, to be an extra in this movie. I guess it makes me look more authentic to the 19th century if I have a beard. What do you think? To learn more about Joseph Smith, you can check out the symposium that was recently held at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., which included a lecture by Columbia University Professor and family friend Richard Bushman.
